WHAT IS JOY?
Does it mean feeling happy most of the time? Webster’s dictionary defines it as a feeling of great pleasure and happiness and the emotion evoked by well-being, success, or good fortune. Or by the prospect of possessing what one desires. Joy is also referred to as delight.
When we walk with The Lord and have the Holy Spirit, we have the fruit of the Spirit which is Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Meekness, Gentleness and Self Control. But sometimes as we go through life we wonder where can joy be found?
At Christmas and especially at the Holidays, and leading up to our special times of celebration, many will feel that something is missing. This may be our JOY.
Growing older, losing loved ones, experiencing loss of any kind, including jobs, or friends, can put us in a place of disappointment and difficulty finding and feeling the joy in life. We are emotional creatures, and to live fully, we must fully feel. I believe it is healthy to express our feelings, and occasionally have a good cry.
“Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning”. This is NOT depression but honesty in embracing the pain in life, our sorrow and suffering. This is important to remember.
On the other side of our heartbreaking emotions is where joy resides. This is where we can pick ourselves up by the bootstraps and go on knowing that God has a good plan for our lives. We can rejoice in knowing HE is in control of every situation and we are not. And HE delights in giving His children the desires of their heart.
Hold on, if you are feeling sad this Holiday Season. Kiss the creator. Spend time opening yourself up to the Lord and express your feelings and then Trust Him. “I will do it” says the Lord.
And remember that you already possess well-being, success, and good fortune because what you desire most is more than likely LOVE. Expect MORE LOVE and surprises in 2019 and beyond. And watch it come to pass.
